Trauma Healing Retreat Bali

A private, trauma-informed retreat for trauma recovery, emotional healing and nervous system regulation

Who Our Trauma Healing Retreat Bali Is For

This private trauma healing retreat is designed for individuals carrying the effects of unresolved trauma, prolonged stress, emotional overwhelm or experiences that continue to shape how they feel, respond and relate.

You may still be functioning well externally while experiencing persistent internal strain, disconnection or difficulty feeling settled and safe.

This may include:

  • unresolved trauma or difficult past experiences that continue to affect daily life
  • emotional overwhelm, hypervigilance or difficulty switching off
  • feeling disconnected, numb, stuck or unable to move forward
  • recurring patterns in relationships, trust, self-worth or emotional regulation
  • chronic stress or burnout where deeper unresolved experiences may be contributing
  • difficulty feeling safe, settled or fully present, even when life appears stable

How Trauma Healing Works With the Nervous System

Our trauma work is grounded in an understanding of how the autonomic nervous system responds to stress, threat and overwhelm. Trauma is not held only as a memory or narrative; it can also shape physiological patterns of activation, shutdown, hypervigilance and disconnection.

At Pesona Jiwa, trauma therapy is therefore paced carefully, with nervous-system regulation supporting the deeper therapeutic work rather than replacing it.

1. Regulation before processing
The system must first stabilise. Without sufficient safety and regulation, deeper therapeutic work can reinforce overwhelm rather than resolve it.

2. Working with, not against, the nervous system
Rather than pushing for release or breakthrough, the work follows the individual’s capacity — supporting gradual shifts in safety, tolerance and responsiveness.

3. Restoring flexibility and range
The aim is not to remain permanently calm, but to restore the capacity to move more flexibly between activation, engagement and rest without becoming stuck.

This may be supported through a combination of:

  • trauma-informed psychotherapy
  • somatic and body-based approaches
  • polyvagal-informed nervous-system regulation
  • structured therapeutic pacing and integration
  • where clinically appropriate, taVNS and other nervous-system-focused interventions

The emphasis is on safety, precision, consistency and therapeutic depth — not intensity for its own sake.

Our Clinical Approach to Trauma Healing

At Pesona Jiwa, trauma healing is approached through both psychological understanding and the body’s physiological response to stress, threat and safety.

Our work is trauma-informed, integrative and grounded in modern psychotherapy, while also recognising the important role of the autonomic nervous system in how trauma is experienced and maintained.

Matt Little, Clinical Director, Psychotherapist and Addiction Specialist, is certified by the Polyvagal Institute. This informs the way we understand patterns such as hypervigilance, shutdown, functional freeze, emotional overwhelm and difficulty returning to a felt sense of safety.

Rather than relying on insight alone, therapy is paced according to the individual’s capacity and may include:

  • trauma-informed psychotherapy
  • person-centred and integrative counselling
  • polyvagal-informed nervous system regulation
  • somatic and body-based approaches
  • emotional regulation work
  • structured therapeutic processing and integration
  • where clinically appropriate, taVNS and other nervous-system-focused interventions

The aim is not to force disclosure, catharsis or rapid breakthroughs. It is to create sufficient safety, stability and therapeutic trust for deeper work to take place at a pace the individual can genuinely tolerate and integrate.

This approach allows trauma therapy to address both the story of what happened and the patterns the nervous system may still be carrying long after the original experience has passed.

A Private Environment Designed for Nervous System Recovery

The physical environment can play an important role in how the nervous system responds to stress, threat and safety.

At Pesona Jiwa’s Trauma Healing Retreat in Bali, the setting is intentionally structured to reduce unnecessary stimulation, support a greater sense of safety and create the conditions for deeper therapeutic work.

This is not simply about comfort or luxury. The environment forms part of the trauma-informed approach.

Low-stimulation, private surroundings
You are not sharing space with other guests. The absence of group dynamics, social pressure and unnecessary unpredictability allows greater space for rest, reflection and regulation.

Consistent, predictable structure
Daily routines, therapeutic sessions and activities are paced carefully. Predictability can help reduce background stress and support greater stability throughout the retreat.

Nature as part of recovery
The private villa environment, natural surroundings and access to outdoor space provide opportunities for grounding, rest and reconnection away from the demands of everyday life.

Integrated with the therapeutic process
The environment is not separate from the clinical work. It supports the sense of safety, regulation and trust needed for trauma-informed psychotherapy and deeper processing to take place.

While understanding trauma is an important first step, many people reach a point where they need a fully supported environment in which to work through it safely. At Pesona Jiwa, our private one-to-one Trauma Healing Retreat combines personalised psychotherapy, nervous-system regulation and carefully paced therapeutic support within a completely private setting.

Your Private Beachfront Villa in Bali

Your environment matters when you are undertaking deeper trauma work. Privacy, predictability and a sense of safety all help create the conditions in which meaningful therapeutic work can take place.

At Pesona Jiwa’s Trauma Healing Retreat in Bali, you stay in your own private beachfront villa rather than a shared residential or group setting. There are no other retreat guests, no group programme and no expectation to adapt to the pace or needs of others.

Your villa provides a quiet, comfortable base throughout your stay, with private bedrooms, living spaces, outdoor areas and a pool, allowing time to rest, reflect and integrate between sessions.

Daily life is intentionally simple and supported. Your meals are prepared by a private chef, housekeeping is provided, and your schedule is shaped around your individual therapeutic needs rather than a fixed group timetable.

This privacy also allows the clinical programme to move at your pace. Therapy, nervous-system regulation, restorative practices and periods of rest can be adjusted according to how you are responding each day.

For many of our guests, this complete separation from group dynamics is an important part of feeling safe enough to engage deeply with the therapeutic process.

One guest. One villa. One dedicated team.

Private Chef & Personalised Nutrition

Your meals at Pesona Jiwa are prepared privately for you by a dedicated chef, allowing nutrition to become an integrated part of your stay rather than something you need to organise around your programme.

Menus are personalised around your preferences, dietary requirements and individual needs. Fresh ingredients and thoughtfully prepared meals provide consistent nourishment throughout the day while reducing the decisions, planning and disruption that can often surround food when life already feels demanding.

Because you are our only guest, you are not eating from a fixed retreat menu or dining according to a group timetable. Your chef can adapt meals throughout your stay around your therapeutic schedule, activities, appetite and how you are feeling on a particular day.

Where clinically appropriate, nutritional considerations can form part of the wider therapeutic programme, particularly where prolonged stress, disrupted routines or periods of overwork have affected eating patterns and general wellbeing.

Meals are served privately in your villa, giving you the freedom to eat quietly on your own, with a partner or family member if they are accompanying you, and at a pace that feels comfortable.

Good food here is not about restriction or perfection. It is about being properly cared for while you focus on yourself.

Space to Slow Down and Be Alone

Your private villa gives you space that is entirely your own throughout your stay, including beautifully designed bathrooms created for privacy, comfort and unhurried time.

Deep soaking baths, rain showers, natural light and generous private spaces give you somewhere to slow down between therapy sessions, rest without interruption and allow your system time to settle.

For many guests, complete privacy matters. There is no shared accommodation, no communal bathroom and no need to move through the routines of a conventional residential retreat.

You can wake when you need to, take time after therapy, spend time alone or simply enjoy having somewhere peaceful where nothing is expected of you.

Trauma recovery does not only happen in the therapy room. Sometimes it also needs space, privacy and time.

Your Personalised Trauma Healing Programme

No two people arrive at Pesona Jiwa with exactly the same story, symptoms or needs. Your programme is therefore built around you rather than asking you to fit into a predetermined retreat schedule.

Your stay combines focused one-to-one therapeutic work with nervous-system regulation, restorative practices, carefully selected experiences and, importantly, enough space between sessions for the work to settle and integrate.

The exact rhythm is adapted to you, but a typical week may include:

3 × Individual Psychotherapy Sessions
Private one-to-one sessions focused on the reasons you have come to Pesona Jiwa, rather than working from a generic treatment programme.

1 × taVNS-Supported Psychotherapy Session
Where clinically appropriate, psychotherapy may be combined with transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) as part of our nervous-system-focused approach.

Daily Nervous System & Mind-Body Practice
Yoga, meditation, mindfulness or restorative breathwork, selected and adapted according to what is most supportive for you.

Regular Balinese Therapeutic Massage
Massage provides space for physical relaxation, restoration and reconnection with the body alongside the psychological work.

1 × Sound Healing Session
A restorative sound-based experience incorporated into the wider programme.

1 × Authentic Balinese Healing Experience
An opportunity to experience a carefully selected aspect of traditional Balinese healing and spirituality, such as ceremony or Melukat with our Balinese priest and priestess.

1 × Private Bali Experience or Excursion
This may include a waterfall, temple, nature experience or another personally selected activity, introduced at an appropriate point in your stay rather than simply filling a timetable.

Clinical & Psychiatric Support Where Required
Additional clinical, psychiatric or medical support can be integrated into your programme when appropriate.

And Just as Importantly — Time for You

Not every hour is scheduled.

There is time to sleep, journal, swim in your private pool, walk on the beach, read, reflect, explore Bali or simply do nothing.

Your private beachfront villa, personal chef, dedicated staff and driver remove many of the everyday demands that normally compete for your attention.

Some days may involve deeper therapeutic work. Others may need to be quieter.

Your programme has structure, but it is never rigid. The week adapts to you — not the other way around.

Begin Your Healing Process

Taking time away for yourself — particularly when you are used to carrying responsibility for everyone and everything around you — can be a significant decision.

The first step is simply a private, confidential conversation.

We will talk about what has been happening for you, what you have already tried, what you would like to change, and what you hope to gain from your time in Bali.

From there, we can explore whether Pesona Jiwa is the right environment for you and, if so, begin shaping a programme around your individual needs.

Trauma Healing Retreat: Quick Answers

Is the Trauma Healing Retreat private?

Yes. The retreat is designed around one guest at a time, with private villa accommodation and a programme tailored to the individual.

Who is the retreat for?

It is intended for adults seeking focused support with trauma, chronic stress, emotional dysregulation, nervous system overwhelm, burnout or persistent patterns connected with past experiences. For people seeking a PTSD or C-PTSD retreat in Bali, suitability is considered individually through a confidential pre-arrival assessment. The programme may support adults living with post-traumatic stress or complex trauma when a private, non-group setting is appropriate; it is not an emergency or acute inpatient psychiatric service.

What type of trauma support is offered?

Support is trauma-informed and individually paced, combining psychotherapy with nervous system regulation, reflective work and restorative therapeutic support.

Is psychotherapy included?

Yes. Individual psychotherapy is a core part of the programme and is tailored around the guest’s needs, presentation and therapeutic goals.

Is nervous system regulation part of the programme?

Yes. Nervous system regulation is integrated throughout the retreat to support safety, emotional regulation and the ability to engage with deeper therapeutic work.

Is medical support available?

Where clinically required, medical or psychiatric input can be incorporated following assessment. This is not automatically required for every trauma retreat.

How is the length of stay decided?

Stays are tailored to the individual, with flexible private programmes available from 5 days depending on needs, goals and clinical suitability.

There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need.

Many people who contact us simply know that something needs to change. They may feel exhausted, disconnected, constantly on edge, emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in patterns they cannot seem to shift, or simply recognise that they no longer feel like themselves.

Sometimes the first step is simply having the space to talk about what has been happening.

Your conversation is completely confidential, with no obligation to proceed.
