Mangku Anom & Mangku Ayu

Balinese Priest & Priestess | Spiritual Guides

Mangku Anom and Mangku Ayu serve as spiritual guides at Pesona Jiwa, bringing a deeply rooted Balinese Hindu perspective to ceremony, reflection and spiritual practice.

Their work is grounded in devotion, ancestral tradition and years of lived spiritual practice. Together, they offer guests an opportunity to experience aspects of Balinese spirituality in a respectful and meaningful way, creating space for reflection, intention, prayer and connection.

Mangku Anom

Mangku Anom comes from a long family lineage in which spiritual knowledge and healing traditions have been passed down through generations.

From a young age, he felt drawn toward spirituality and devoted himself to the study of Hinduism, spiritual philosophy and contemplative practice, drawing from both Indian Hindu and Balinese traditions.

In his youth, he lived as a yogi and came close to pursuing the life of an Indian Hindu monk. His path eventually led him back to Bali, where he followed the calling of his family and community and entered priestly service.

Rather than continuing solely within the healing traditions of his ancestors, Mangku Anom was called to serve as a priest, dedicating his life to ceremony, prayer, spiritual guidance and community service.

Before fully entering his priestly role, Mangku Anom worked as a middle school teacher at an international school. That background remains an important part of who he is today. His ability to explain spiritual ideas with clarity, patience and humility allows guests to engage with Balinese traditions in a way that feels accessible and respectful.

Mangku Ayu

Mangku Ayu is a Balinese priestess who comes from a longstanding priestly lineage in East Bali.

She began studying Hinduism and spiritual practice from an early age and developed her understanding alongside Mangku Anom. Their relationship grew not only through marriage, but through a shared commitment to spiritual service and the preservation of Balinese Hindu traditions.

Before retiring from formal education, Mangku Ayu worked as an elementary school teacher, devoting much of her professional life to supporting and nurturing children.

That same patience, warmth and sense of care is evident in her spiritual work today.

Their Role at Pesona Jiwa

At Pesona Jiwa, Mangku Anom and Mangku Ayu support guests through traditional Balinese ceremonies, prayer, spiritual guidance and moments of reflection.

Their role is not to replace psychological or medical treatment, but to complement the wider therapeutic experience by offering a culturally authentic spiritual dimension to the programme.

For some guests, this may involve participating in a cleansing ceremony. For others, it may simply be an opportunity to slow down, reflect and experience the sense of meaning and ritual that is deeply woven into Balinese life.

Every interaction is approached with sensitivity and respect for the guest’s own beliefs, background and personal boundaries.

Tradition, Teaching and Service

Teaching has remained central to both Mangku Anom and Mangku Ayu throughout their lives.

Their years in education, combined with their spiritual roles, allow them to share Balinese Hindu traditions in a way that is thoughtful, grounded and welcoming rather than performative.

Together, they embody a shared path of devotion, service and cultural continuity.

Their presence at Pesona Jiwa helps ensure that Balinese spiritual practices are offered with the respect, context and integrity they deserve, allowing guests to encounter these traditions through people who live them as part of their everyday lives.
